News from
the Parish Centre, June 2008
Our Lady
Star of the Sea did indeed have a Grand Auction on 7th June 2008.
The auction items were displayed for all to see and generated much
interest both in the afternoon and the evening as well. (See
photos below.)
Although the turn out wasn't as good as it could have been those
that came, came prepared with their wallets and 'spending heads'
on. The bidding was swift and seamless and the night moved well
with great interest shown in all the items. The bidding was especially
keen for the Blackpool Football and the Red Arrow Prints where those
three items alone raised well over £300!.
Frances the Stewardess at the club and Tracey laid on an a fabulous
spread including a very tasty hotpot and then Apple Pie (including
cream!) and Cheese and biscuits plus other bits and pieces and I
don't think anyone would argue that this wasn't value for money.
Well done to her.
Marlene our resident Line Dancing guru supplied the 'tunes' throughout
the night and my thanks also go to her.
At the end once all the money is in we espect to have raised (give
or take a pound or two) £2000.
This has been a great effort by all the Committee at the club and
I am most grateful for all their help. But my special thanks go
to the proprietors and members of the Parish who so freely donated
the items for the auction and made it possible by their fabulous
generosity.
